PostNL Design System

SCROLL DOWN

PostNL Design System

I’ve worked as part of different Agile teams at PostNL, a mail, parcel and e-commerce corporation in the Netherlands. My task as a UX / Product designer has been to ensure that the complex products offered to consumers and business users are as easy to understand and use as possible

Specifications & Design system Communication within the team is crucial. We need to make sure that developers know exactly what they need to build, and we need a shared knowledge of how particular UX and UI challenges are solved so that we can identify similar patterns and be able to deliver a consistent user experience to our end users. I have built PostNL’s Design System, cross-platform product design experience (Web, Android, iOS ) Which includes resfreshed icons and illustrations, UX specifications and commonly used patterns and components.

Delivering quality work I was responsible for all design work within the Agile product scrum teams. This includes ensuring the quality of the work delivered by aligning with the head of the UX department, mentoring and guiding junior designers, and coordinating with our visual designers so that they can create pixel-perfect mockups.

The Challenge To deliver the best possible user experience following the brand refresh guidelines and brand principles. The Design System of PostNL is build on atomic design principles. We have build a library and living style guide of atoms, molecules and organisms using Sketch. With the library we were quickly able to build a consistent component based UI kit, for the PostNL marketing and campaigns pages. Following the 2017 brand refresh principles.

Components Library PostNL’s Marketing department demanded a variety of customizable modular components to help build their modular CMS architecture to fully support their campaign needs. A few examples of components are shown below; Headers, About, Our Services, Feature, Forms, Video player, Newsletter sign up, Instagram feed, Call to actions.
